F. Garcia

Francisco García was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1965. He received the B.S. degree in geophysical engineering from the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute, Moscow, Russia (formerly USSR), the M.S. degree in earthquake engineering and structural dynamics and the Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain, in 1991, 1994, and 1997, respectively. Since 2007, he has been a Professor with the Department of Cartographic Engineering, Geodesy, and Photogrammetry, Polytechnic University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain. From 2005 to 2013, he directed the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He is the author of 4 books and more than 40 articles. His research interests include applied geophysics in civil engineering and cultural heritage and GPR research. Prof. García has been a Member of the Society for Archaeological Prospection (ISAP) since 2003 and a Member of the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society—EEGS (Colorado, USA) since 1998. From 1993 to 2011, he was also an Associate Member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists—SEG (Tulsa, USA). From 2002 to 2005, he was the Coordinator of the Thematic Network EEGECS (European Education in Geodetic Engineering, Cartography, and Surveying), a European Union-funded project (10427-CP-1-2002-ES-ERASMUS-TN). From 2000 to 2005, he was also the Assistant Secretary of the Applied Geophysics section in the Spanish Commission for Geodesy and Geophysics of the Ministry responsible for public works.
