Francesco Cerutti

Francesco Cerutti was born in 1972 and is Italian citizen. He got his degree in Physics in Milano and his PhD in Torino, working on heavy ion reaction modeling at low energies. After a four years fellowship at the Physics Department of the Milano University, since July 2006 he has been on the CERN staff, as a member of the CERN FLUKA team, at the Accelerators and Beams Department until the end of 2008 and at the Engineering Department from this year. He is a contributing author of FLUKA, with special focus on the nucleus––nucleus interaction description, and has taught at six FLUKA user courses. He is author of 90 scientific papers (almost one third of them published on referred journals) and gave a dozen oral presentations at international conferences. At present he is working on the FLUKA code development and on its application for machine protection studies concerning the Large Hadron Collider (especially collimation and insertion upgrade). He is reviewer for Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research and Physical Review, and scientific secretary of the Varenna Conference on Nuclear Reaction Mechanisms, held every three years.
