Eva Baldrich

Dr. Eva Baldrich received her PhD in Biological Sciences from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 1998. She then moved to the Haematology Department of Cambridge University (UK), where she participated in the isolation and characterization of new HIV variants from Central African patients. In 2002 she joined the Nanotechnology and Bioanalysis Group at the Universitat Rovira Virgili (Tarragona, Spain), where she developed fluorescent and electrochemical aptasensors for the fast and sensitive detection of thrombin. In 2006 she enrolled the BioMEMS group at Centro Nacional de Microelectrónica (Barcelona, Spain), where she led for eight years research in fast assay and biosensor development and was responsible of the Biosensor’s Laboratory. Over this period, she contributed to the design, development and optimization of immunoassays and immunosensors for detection of bacteria, cardiac biomarkers, hormones/neurotransmitters, and enzymes. Dr. Eva Baldrich joined Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) in January 2014, when she was awarded a Miguel Servet tenure track position (co-funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad, and the European Regional Development Fund). In VHIR, she leads the Diagnostic Nanotools Group (https://vhir.vallhebron.com/en/research/diagnostic-nanotools-dina), a multidisciplinary team that develops fast assays and biosensors for disease diagnosis.
