The research focuses on the role of the caregiver/baby-toddler binary reaction in the self-regulation development of infant feeding during feeding, and is mainly interested in the early childhood obesity prevention. The goal of my work is to understand the development track of this field from infancy to toddlerhood, and to do more latest research on the influence of this period on later childhood. I am good at observation methods, and I participated in the development of the international children's feeding response scale. My research mainly involves longitudinal data. As they are a mixture of observation coding, anthropometry, self-report questionnaire and recently added physiological data, it is very time-consuming and complicated in data management, coding and analysis. My recent research focuses on interventions to improve feeding response and self-regulation in early childhood. My preliminary intervention study (R21HD082707 Strengthening caregiver-infant communication to prevent obesity) completed data collection in April 2019. At present, I have an R01 based on this work, which is being reviewed in NICHD. Finally, besides my research background, I am also a registered family nurse with experience in primary clinical nursing needs. This clinical background has influenced my thinking on research design. I have served as an honorary undergraduate student majoring in nursing, nutrition and medicine, a research consultant for MSN students, doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers in development science.
