Erena Le Heron

Erena’s interests are connected through a focus on narrative, land and the relationships between them. Her research portfolio that explores these themes includes work on: marine spaces, blue economy and participatory processes in multi-use marine spaces; agri-food systems and economies of land-based production; and Aotearoa New Zealand filmmakers and their relationship to landscape, film tourism and landscape. Erena’s research is informed by socio-cultural, economic and feminist geography and interdisciplinary socio-ecological theory. She critically engages with practices of ethics-of-care, more-than-human agency, narrative power and assemblage thinking. Conceptual contributions focus on reimagining, reassembling and re-mediating economy-environment relations.
