Enakshi Sinniah (PhD) is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Queensland’s (UQ) Institute for Molecular Bioscience, currently undertaking her research at the Palpant Laboratory for Stem Cells and Cardiovascular Development. Her research focuses on understanding the genetic and epigenetic principles that define and safeguard cellular identity. Using stem cells as a model system to mimic human heart development in a dish, her work investigates the underlying mechanisms governing cell fate decisions during the process of cardiac differentiation and disease. Taking an interdisciplinary approach of computational and developmental biology, she is working on novel approaches to identify key genomic regulators of cell identity which can help guide applications towards cell-engineering, reprogramming and disease therapies. Specifically, they have developed a computational method based on a conserved epigenetic principle, termed TRIAGE, which can be applied to any expression data to infer genetic drivers of cell identity.
