Elisa Mercadelli received the master’s degree (summa cum laude) in products, materials, and processes for industrial chemistry and the Ph.D. degree in industrial chemistry from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, in 2006 and 2010, respectively. She is with Permanent Staff at ISTEC-CNR, Faenza, Italy. She has coauthored more than 50 articles published in international journals and a supervisor of M.Sc. students of Bologna University. Her main research activities concern the synthesis and characterization of advanced ceramics powders and their shaping processes. Among others, other than pressing, slip casting, and extrusion, she has a solid background in thick- (screen printing and tape casting) and thin- (spin and dip coating and wet powder spray) film deposition. The recent activities are mainly focused on the shaping of multilayer ceramic structures for piezoelectric applications as well as solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and solid oxide electrolyzers (SOECs), membranes for high-temperature gas separation (O2 and H2), and sodium-based batteries. Dr. Mercadelli was a Key Personnel for: 1) industrial projects with EDISON spa, RSE spa, FIAMM Spa, and AUREL spa; 2) European Projects FCH-JU (2012–2016) EVOLVE, grant agreement no. 303429 and ENERGY-2007-1.1-03 (2008–2011) IDEAL CELL, grant agreement no. 213389; and 3) several Italian projects on the development of technology for the energy sectors of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.
