个人简介
Visiting fellow at the Laboratoire d'Informatique, de Robotique et de Microélectronique de Montpellier (LIRMM) since January 2016, and a federal public servant at UFSC, Florianópolis/Brazil since March 2010. At UFSC I am a professor of Computer Engineering in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. Formerly, from 1995 to 2010, I was with the Faculty of Informatics, PUCRS, in Porto Alegre/Brazil. In 2002, I received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Sussex, School of Engineering and Informatics, England. In 2003 I started the Embedded Systems Group (GSE), having led and managed since then several research projects funded by Brazilian Government Agencies and also by the industry. In 2004 I set up a company named Innalogics at PUCRS Technological Park. Innalogics is a spin-off of GSE aiming the improvement of industry-university collaboration in the field of embedded systems design. As a result of the research and industrial activities, not only dozens of papers have been published, but also the research outcomes have been provided to the industry in the form of products and technology transfer. As a highly motivated and results orientated professional, I have a proven track record of research, teaching, knowledge transfer, academic and scientific management activities. Among the latest contributions, it is important to highlight: the publication of books and conference proceedings; conferences organization; invited talks; examination committees member; international standards committees member; international cooperation; startups creation in France and in Brazil; conception of VLSI designs (RFID chip and communications protocol for satellites). My research interests include embedded systems, computer architecture, reconfigurable systems (FPGA/HDL), test & verification, programming languages, data communications, and space applications. My research targets are the state-of-the-art on-board computing systems of artificial satellites. Currently, I am conducting research activities in verification and validation methodologies for computing architectures at the software (real-time systems, embedded software) and hardware (HDL/FPGA, embedded IP cores) levels, considering the safety requirements of target industries. The most recent achievement was the winning of the French Tech Ticket competition, to mentoring research students in the creation of a high-tech startup company in Montpellier.
