Enrico Rizzuto has been a Professor in Ship Design and Construction at the University of Naples, Naples, Italy, since January 2016. From 1990 to 2015, he held positions of Associate Professor and Researcher at the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy. In 1993–1994, he was a Guest Researcher at the Technical Acoustics Department, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden. Previously, in 1986–1990, he was with the Hydrodynamics Department, Italian Ship Research Centre (CETENA). For more than 20 years, he has been a teacher in Degree and Master Courses in Naval Architecture and a tutor of the degree final works and Ph.D. dissertations (the University of Genoa and the University of Naples). He has been a teacher/speaker in international courses and seminars in Italy and abroad. His research activities cover: noise and vibrations on board ships; ship emissions in air and in water; probabilistic methods for ship structural design; loads and response of marine structures; materials & joints for ship construction; and ship design criteria. He is an author of more than 100 publications in journals and congresses. He was an Institutional Coordinator of the following projects: Achieve QUiter Oceans by shipping noise footprint reduction (AQUO, www.aquo.eu, 2012–2015); Ships oriented Innovative soLutions to rEduce Noise & Vibrations (SILENV, www.silenv.eu, 2009–2012); Network of Excellence in Marine Structures (MARSTRUCT, www.mar.ist.utl.pt/marstruct, 2004–2010); COST Action TU0601-Robustness of Structures (2007–He is a Committee Chairman of the International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress (ISSC; 1997 to date); advisory council member of the International Forum on Engineering Decision Making (IFED; 2004–t.d.); member of the Joint Committee on Structural Safety (JCSS; 2006–t.d.); symposium organizing committee member of the Offshore, Marine & Arctic Engineering Conference (OMAE; 2006–t.d.); Steering Committee member of the Practical Design of Ships & Other Floating Structures Conference (PRADS; 2010–t.d.); Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Maritime Association of the Mediterranean (IMAM; 2009–2015). Dr. Rizzuto is a member of the Editorial Board of Marine Structures Journal (Elsevier; Aug. 2007–t.d.); a reviewer of several Elsevier journals (fields: naval architecture and structural engineering); and a book editor of Sustainable Maritime Transportation & Exploitation of Sea Resources (Boca Raton, FL, USA: CRC Press, 2011).
