Donna Simon

Donna Simon (MSc) is the Manager for Orangutan Conservation under the Sabah Landscapes Programme in WWF-Malaysia. She has worked for WWF since 2011, focusing on Bornean Orangutan conservation. Her earlier work involved studying orangutan behaviour in badly degraded forests in Bukit Piton Forest Reserve and undergoing forest rehabilitation. In 2014, together with two dedicated field assistants, their intensive work on mapping aerial nest survey activities using helicopters contributed to the recently known orangutan distribution in Sabah. It is also the highest survey effort done on great apes. This information has helped to protect orangutan habitat as Class I in Sungai Lulunguyon Forest Reserve; identify important corridors for connectivity establishment; and restore degraded orangutan habitats in Sabah.
