Professor Germain’s research interests include the clinical and biochemical genetics of lysosomal storage disorders. He has a strong interest in enzyme replacement therapies, chaperon therapies, substrate reduction therapies and gene therapies. Throughout his career, Professor Germain has contributed extensively on the topics of Fabry disease, lysosomal storage diseases and neuro-muscular genetic diseases. He has contributed to several international and multi-disciplinary guidelines, has authored several book chapters and has published over 160 peer-reviewed articles, most of them as a lead or senior author including publications in The New England Journal of Medicine, The American Journal of Human Genetics and Genetics in Medicine. He has given more than 400 invited conferences at international scientific meetings. Professor Germain has been elected Visiting Professor at the Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) in 2015 and Adjunct Professor at the University of Puthisastra (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) in 2020. Professor Germain has been appointed 1st class Professor by the University of Versailles in 2021. His h index is of 60 and his i10 index is of 138 (Google Scholar accessed on June 2022).
