Dr. Dingpei Long has been engaged in research on the genetic improvement of silkworms and silks based on transgenic technology and has made remarkable achievements. His field of study involves the function of mulberry genes and genetic improvement in silkworms, he works on the establishment of safe transgenic technology systems for the silkworms and the creation and improvement of new silk materials based on transgenic and gene editing technologies. At present, Dr. Long worked with Dr. Didier Merlin's research group at the Institute for Biomedical Sciences, Georgia State University in the United States to develop new nanomaterials based on normal/transgenic silk proteins and plant-derived nanoliposomes for the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and colorectal cancer (CRC).
