I hold a MSc of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences & Management at Makerere University, previously served as a Biomedical Laboratory Technologist and External quality assurance coordinator at the Uganda National TB Reference Laboratory (WHO SRL, ISO15189, ISO17043 accredited) under the stewardship of Prof. Moses Joloba. I have worked in activities pertaining to laboratory systems strengthening, quality management systems, knowledge transfer as well as mentoring and capacity building of participants from as many as 23 National TB Reference Laboratories in sub-Saharan Africa, most notably at the Eritrea National TB Reference Laboratory for 5 Months where I also directly developed all documentation to do with the design and implementation of the National Specimen Referral System, at the Botswana National TB Reference Laboratory with a focus on technical assistance for Quality management systems and bench work. I also notably supported staff from West Africa for the Benin National TB Reference Laboratory, a WHO Supranational Reference Laboratory status laboratory, to establish a proficiency testing scheme for their tuberculosis diagnostic network. I spearheaded the establishment of the molecular epidemiology wing, planning, designing of road maps and conceptual frameworks for the implementation of the Operational Research Agenda across the countries supported in the East Central and Southern Africa-Health Community (ECSA-HC) project. I have had scientific papers accepted and/or presented at high level conferences in Busan and Soeul in South Korea, Chicago in North America, and Hyderabad, India. I have also been involved in aspects to do with; planning, monitoring, coordination and report writing for numerous support supervisions for the Ministry of Health. I have previously played a part-time role as a Laboratory Systems Consultant with Laboratory Systems Strengthening (LSS) Limited, and currently, Biolabs Red Services to strengthen laboratory systems in Uganda. In my capacity as Vice President-elect with the Korean Foundation for International Health Care (KOFIH) Global Alumni, I have been involved in successful proposal writing for TB strengthening activities in-country under the annual KOFIH Global Alumni projects. This has included projects to do with Active case finding of Tuberculosis among school going children, sequencing drug-resistant tuberculosis, and availing MutHub as an integrated disease genomics platform for the Uganda NTRL. I have co-founded GENLAB Solutions International Limited as I pursue the company vision, which is to be recognized as the leading provider of digital health solutions harnessing genomics research, disease surveillance and individualized patient care in Africa.
