Denis Mencaraglia

Roberto Mendonça Faria was born on 26 May 1952 in Brazil. He received the B.Sc. degree in physics in 1976 and the M.Sc. (1980) and Ph.D. (1984) degrees in physics from the Instituto de Física of Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. From 1987 to 1989 he has been a post doctoral fellow at USTL, at Montpellier, France. He has been a full professor at the Instituto de Física de São Carlos, of the University of São Paulo (USP) at São Carlos, Brazil, since 1977. He is a foundation member and a leader of the Grupo de Polímeros “Bernhard Gross”, at the Physics and Materials Science of the Instituto de Física de São Carlos/USP, where he has been working mainly with polymers for electrical insulation, conducting and luminescent polymer based electric/optoelectronic devices and conducting polymers. Since 2002 he has been the Director of the Instituto de Física de São Carlos/USP.
