The overarching goal of my research is to advance human and animal health through scientific research on infectious diseases. Viruses use a variety of strategies to establish infection, including immune system avoidance, immune modulation, regulation of gene expression, and latency. I am interested in resolving these mechanisms with the goal of tipping the balance in favor of the host and pathogenic clearance via vaccination and therapeutic interventions.
