Dr. Varma is a Psychiatric Epidemiologist whose research focuses on mental health with a specific focus on perinatal mental health, substance use, women's sexual and reproductive health and mHealth. She is a trained qualitative researcher and serves as a qualitative expert in several projects at the Malcom Randall Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida, and the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center, Salt Lake City, Utah.
