Davide Giovanardi

Davide Giovanardi, PhD Senior Scientist, Lecturer of Plant Disease Control and Plant Disease Diagnostics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy Dr. Giovanardi is a specialist in plant disease epidemiology and control, particularly in the framework of the development and implementation of innovative and sustainable control strategies by participating in European (EU) and national research projects. He has a broad experience in bacterial diseases of horticulture and fruit crops and in seed pathology, other than in unraveling the mechanisms behind diseases caused by phytopathogenic bacteria. His main research is focused on microbial characterization, assessment of microbial communities, dynamics in agriculture systems, detection, identification and control of bacterial diseases and on the use of beneficial bacteria in crop production and protection. He also worked in a major seed company as supervisor and coordinator of phytosanitary, phenotypical and genetic purity control, monitoring and testing of the seed production and trading. Coordinator in the R&D team of the molecular/bioassay screening for crop resistance to pests, where he conducted studies as well on the use of PGPB and microbial control agents to increase sustainability in agricultural systems.
