个人简介
David F. Muñoz received the B.Eng. degree in civil engineering from the University of Cuenca, Cuenca, Ecuador, in 2013, the MSc. degree in hydrology and water resources from Wageningen University & Research, Wageningen, The Netherlands, in 2017, and the Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL, USA, in 2021.
He was a Post-Doctoral Researcher with The University of Alabama after graduation. He worked on civil engineering projects in Cuenca from 2013 to 2015 and urban flood research at the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal, from 2017 to 2018. He was a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant with the Center for Complex Hydrosystems Research (CCHR), The University of Alabama, in 2021. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA. His research interests include hydrodynamic modeling of coastal and estuarine processes including compound flood hazards in natural and urban landscapes, machine and deep learning techniques, and data assimilation for accurate flood hazard characterization.
Mr. Muñoz is a member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), the European Geosciences Union (EGU), and the Center for Coastal Studies, Virginia Tech. He was a recipient of the SENESCYT Scholarship in 2014 from the Ecuadorian Government, the ERASMUS+ grant in 2017 from the European Commission, and the National Water Center Innovators Program Award in 2019 from the Consortium of Universities for Advancement of Hydrologic Science (CUAHSI) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
