He is particularly interested in all aspects of melioidosis (Burkholderia pseudomallei infection), especially gaining a greater understanding of the global distribution of the disease and the environmental factors that underpin its distribution. Other interests include: aetiology of bacteraemia, pneumonia, meningitis and endocarditis antimicrobial resistance typhoid and other Salmonella and Shigella infections streptococcal infections, including pneumococci, Strep. suis and and Group A streptococci.
