Daniel Rosenmann

Daniel Rosenmann received the B.S. degree in physics from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima, Peru, in 1986, and the M.S. degree in physics from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL, USA, in 2007. He was a Scientific Associate Senior with the Superconductivity and Magnetism Group, Materials Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, IL, USA, where he custom built a UHV sputtering system for metal film deposition and played a key role in the design and operation of a furnace-based preparation laboratory for the synthesis of high quality single crystals of the high temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O7–delta with a flux method. He also synthesized the graphite-intercalation superconductors CaC6, YbC6, and SrC6 and quickly contributed to establish Argonne as the lead on these unique samples. He is currently a Principal Engineer Specialist with the Center for Nanoscale Materials, Argonne National Laboratory. He has been with the Argonne National Laboratory since 1996. He has co-authored over 80 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He holds a patent involving the synchrotron X-ray scanning tunneling microscopy (SX-STM) project. His current research interests include thin films and materials for sensors and device fabrication involving the synthesis of superconducting, metallic, magnetic, and dielectric films, as well as metamaterials structures for plasmonic and nanophotonics applications with a focus on the development of novel smart probesŽ acting as detectors for applications involving SX-STM, an emerging scanning probe technique for imaging of nanoscale materials, which combines the subnanometer spatial resolution of SPM with the chemical, electronic, and magnetic sensitivity of synchrotron radiation.
