I am broadly interested in how animal's physiologies and behaviors are shaped by the (anthropogenically altered) environment and how bats' behaviors are driven by the use of biosonar. Currently, I investigate together with citizen scientists how urban sprawl is going to affect insectivorous bats. Before, I dedicated my time to the study of bat-prey and both intra- and interspecific bat-bat interactions. For my doctoral thesis I investigated the effects of light pollution on tropical and temperate zone bats. Further, I addressed questions regarding stress physiology & habitat selection as well as energy costs of flight and echolocation of bats.
