Focus of our current research is the investigation of mechanisms involved in nitrogen excretion and acid-base regulation in invertebrate systems that includes crustaceans, insects, cephalopods, chelicerates, planarians, and annelids. In a comparative approach, we are also examining the effects of challenges that come due to anthropogenic caused increases in atmospheric pCO2 levels on the physiology of aquatic animals inhabiting fresh and seawater.
