Whole cells and Photosynthetic proteins for bio-sensor applications and effect of mutagenesis on the function and dynamics. Properties of bio-molecules under CNT nano-confinement (drug delivery). Hydration water of bio-molecules. Hydration water around hydrophilic and hydrophobic bio-interfaces
Competences
Neutron Scattering: small angle scattering; elastic, inelastic and quasi-elastic neutron scattering High pressure techniques. Biophysics standard techniques (CD, Fluo, DLS, DSC). Basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques. Expression and purification of Proteins. Sample environment development (super-cooled liquids and liquids under pressure). Nano-confinement of small bio-molecules in carbon nanotubes. Data analysis and reduction. Sense of synthesis, writing proposals, scientific results, project grants, reports, higlights and scientific presentation and press communications.
Instrumentation
- Scientist on IN13 instrument from (2004-2008): users support, sample environment development for high pressure experiments.
- Scientific collaborator on BRISP spectrometer (2008-2017) on the biological fields; sample environment development for high pressure experiments.
- Numerous experiments performed in neutron large scale facilities: ILL, LLB and ESRF (FR), FRMII and MLZ (DE), PSI (Suisse), ISIS (UK), NIST (USA), ANSTO (Australia).
Dissemination and training
- Didactic activity, scientific dissemination in schools and conferences.
-Training of young people in research, carried out both nationally and internationally. Scientific supervisor/mentor on the neutron scattering topic of several Post Doc, PhD students in collaborating group and Master students (2001-2022)
- Visiting scientist in international institutes (Frei University Berlin, ACNS-ANSTO Australia) to disseminate neutron scattering and to promote new collaborations.
- Participation to few Science Day including ILL Open Door and Italian science festival. Public scientific interview on podcast (ACS polymer journals Bio-macromolecules, Radio Rai).
-About 50 Publications ( mainly first and correspond author) in International Journals with ISI index, Over 50 invited and oral presentations in conferences and seminars. Involved as co-authors in several press communications and scientific highlights.
