Dawn G. Flicker

Dawn G. Flicker received the B.S., degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1982, the M.S. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, in 1984, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, in 1987. From 1989 to 2004, she was a Staff Member and, then, Group Leader with the Applied Theoretical Physics Division, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM. She was involved in high-pressure investigations of explosives, including the detonation-shock-dynamics model and temperature effects, new polymer models, and new strength, damage and EOS models and data sets. from 2005 to 2008, her interests led to program management in the dynamic materials and hydrodynamic experiment programs at Los Alamos. She strove to improve the coupling between theory, model development, diagnostics, and experiments to advance material understanding and representation. In 2008, she moved to Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM, as Manager for the High Energy Density Theory Department and, then, the Dynamic Material Properties Department, where she has managed the design and execution of materials experiment on Sandia's Z machine, gas gun facility, and small pulsar. Her current interests include capitalizing on new capabilities in ramp compression, improved diagnostics, new techniques to extract constitutive properties from complex loading paths, and watershed work in heavy gas properties.
