My long-term ambition and overall aim is to obtain an enhanced understanding of the immunological mechanisms, including apoptosis and clearance defects, which lead to autoimmunity. Together with collaborators, we target the waste-disposal theory with special respect to the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) – “a great imitator” and the prototype of systemic autoimmune disease.
