Christopher Burgess

Dr Burgess is a paediatric gastroenterologist currently working at the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane Australia. He has a special interest in inflammatory disorders of the gut. Dr Burgess completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in 2004, Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2009, both at the University of Queensland. His internship was through the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and specialist training in paediatric gastroenterology in Brisbane at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. Dr Burgess received Conjoint Committee recognition of training in paediatric gastroscopy and colonoscopy in 2017, and in that same year was awarded his Fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). He is currently completing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) higher degree. Dr Burgess worked as a Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh before returning to Australia in 2020 to commence his current position. He has presented research at national and international meetings and publishes work in leading scientific journals.
