Bio

My lab is interested in the as yet poorly understood pathogenesis of scrub typhus, a potentially lethal infection caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi. We strive to understand how Orientia tsutsugamushi manipulates and interacts with its host in order to establish an acute infection which - if cured - inevitably results in long term persistence. Our aim is to identify novel prognostic markers for human disease as well as novel strategies for immunotherapeutic interventions.
