Dr Wu Chia-Yi graduated from the Kind's College London, PhD program of Psychiatric Epidemiology and the Division of Community Health Nursing in the National Taiwan University. She has received semi-structural interview training in the WHO Chinese version of SCAN research in a longitudinal study investigating the prevalence of alcohol use problems and other psychiatric illness among native Taiwanese residents in middle part of Taiwan. Moreover, she has established the case management program for suicidal patients who attended emergency care in the Mackay Memorial Hospital, Taiwan during 2005-2006. She has been investigating help-seeking behavior of people with suicide or self-harm in her PhD study and has published both quantitative and qualitative papers. In recent years her research interests have focused on secondary prevention of community mental health, including depression and suicide risk management in medical inpatients and help-seeking behavior among high-risk groups for suicide in the medical or school settings. She is an expert in the fields of depression and suicide prevention strategies across institutional and individual levels.
