Che-Jen was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He received his PhD degree in 2016 from National Taiwan University in the laboratory of Prof. Jye-Shane Yang. His studied mechano- and vapor-responsive platinum phosphors and the conformational engineering of pentiptycene oligomers. Che-Jen joined the Swager group as a postdoctoral researcher in May 2017 where he is currently investigating complex smart colloids with new interfacial surfaces.
