Che-Chen Chang received the B.S. degree from National Taiwan University, Taipei, the M.S. degree from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, and the Ph.D. degree from Pennsylvania State University, University Park.
From 1987 to 1988, he was a Research Associate with Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, where his research concerned stochastic dynamics calculations about interactions of energetic clusters with surfaces at glancing incidence and spectroscopic characterization of ordered overlayers on metal surfaces. from 1988 to 1992, he was a faculty member with the Department of Chemistry, University of Hawaii, Manoa, where he studied the shadow-cone effect observed in secondary ion mass spectrometry and applied it for characterizing chemical reactions occurring on single-crystal surfaces. in 1990, he was a Visiting Scholar with the University of California, Los Angeles, where he worked on the design and test of a versatile time-of-flight ion scattering and recoiling spectrometer system and on the theory of ion scattering enhancement. Since August 2002, he has joined the faculty of the Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University, where he is currently a Professor. Many of his current research projects involve the development of metallization and interconnection technologies for nanofabrication processes, the preparation and characterization of thin films for optoelectronic devices, nanomaterials synthesis, the characterization of chemical reactions on nanomaterial surfaces, and the interface chemistry between the active photonic-crystal components, the functional passive photonic-crystal devices, and their environment.
