Charles Moy

Dr. Charles Loo is an Associate Professor in Structural and Materials Engineering in the department of Civil Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). Prior to joining XJTLU, he was a Senior Lecturer at Curtin University. Dr. Loo also worked in the consulting industry for a number of years, designing complex Civil and Structural facilities. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia with the Civil and Structural Engineering colleges (MIEAust CPEng NER APEC Engineer IntPE Aus) and is registered with the National Professional Engineers Register (Australia). He is a Fellow with Higher Education Academy UK (FHEA). His research interests are: - Optimisation and Inverse analysis of structural systems. - Integrated computational materials engineering. - Precast concrete structure stability and connections. - Textile reinforced mortar (TRM) and Fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) for strengthening and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures. - Structural performance of composite slab and composite beams. - Natural materials composites. - Smart sensors and smart materials. - Machine learning and digital twin for intelligent manufacturing. - Microbial-induced calcium carbonate precipitation.
