Career Trajectory
Bio
Caterina Summonte received the Doctor degree in physics from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, in 1982.
Since 1988, she has been a Full-Time Researcher at the Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche—Unit of Bologna, Bologna. Her current research interests include silicon-based photovoltaics, physics and technology of micro-/nanocrystalline and amorphous silicon and related alloys, and design and fabrication of optical devices (light emitters, silicon-based photoluminescent devices, infrared emitters for gas detection devices, and optical modulators). She deals with plasma deposition of nanocrystalline and epitaxial silicon deposited at low temperature (<200 °C), chemical transport deposition, and very high frequency plasma growth.
