I am Nutritional Scientist working in the areas of metabolism, insulin signaling and developmental programming. My translational research program is focused on investigating signaling networks that regulate cellular metabolism and insulin sensitivity to identify key points of disruption in response to physiological challenges (pregnancy, nutrient restriction, over-feeding) and in disease models (obesity, gestational diabetes). I am a strong proponent that Diversity, Collaboration and Team Science afford the best opportunity advance science. I have experience developing research tools for metabolic phenotyping from the whole organism to the cellular level and interrogating changes in molecular physiology using cells (e.g. adipocytes, myoblasts and immune cells) and tissues isolated from rodents, sheep, three-spined stickleback, non-human primates and humans.
