My main research interest is in the methodology and application of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) for research and clinical practice.

My aim is to contribute to standardization of the use of PROMs because there are too many PROMs, that differ in content and quality, and scores are incomparable.

The two main projects in this area that I contribute to are COSMIN and PROMIS.

With COSMIN we aim to improve the selection of outcome measurement instruments by developing methodological tools for the selection of outcome measures such as a methodology for performing systematic reviews of PROMs and a guideline for selecting outcome measurement instruments for Core Outcome Sets.

With PROMIS we aim to develop and implement one gold standard measurement system for PROMs to be used in research and clinical practice, in adults and children with or without (chronic) diseases across the world. PROMIS is using Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) by which patients get more relevant and less questions to complete.
