Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Barcelona, and PhD in 1989 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Specialty in Medical Oncology at the Hospital Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona. At the end of the residency I obtained a position by a public call as a medical oncologist in the General Hospital of Elche and I worked in the General Hospital of Elche and the General Hospital of Alicante For family reasons I moved back to Barcelona where I worked in several regional hospitals until I returned to my statutory position at the Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Medical Oncology Service, directed at that time by Dr. Rafael Rosell (1997). Due to a new sanitary reorganization, the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) started to direct the oncological attention of the area (2003) being responsible for several pathologies (neuro-oncology, gynaecologic cancer, sarcomas and unknown primary tumors). I was a member of the Pharmaco-Therapeutic Commission of the ICO (2003-2017), a member of the Research Ethics Committee (2003-2015) and later on, Vice President (2015-2019). In the same service I became Head of Care (2009-2017), a management task that helped me to understand the problems of oncological care. In 1987 I founded the center's first Neuro-Oncology Committee, and later became coordinator of the Functional Unit of Neuro-Oncology and the ICO's Transversal Reference for CNS tumors. Over the years my interest in research has grown and I focused on brain tumors. I was one of the founders of the GEINO group, first as a member, then as President and I continue as a member. I am an active member of the Brain Tumor Study Group of the EORTC, member of the Scientific Committee of the European Association of Neuro-oncology (2015-2020) and member of the Scientific Committee of several editions of the ESMO congress. I have participated in the various European guidelines on treatment of brain tumors (2014-2021), and those of the SEOM. Invited to several national and international conferences. I have directed/am directing 15 doctoral theses, 9 on brain tumors. Several scholarships from ISCIII and Fundació La Marató TV3 as PI all of them directed to CNS tumours. Currently I have a scholarship for research intensification from the ISCIII and I'll continue with a research intensification grant from the SEOM. In addition I continue to maintain the medical care of neuro-oncology patients. Finally, my task in the Service is currently as Research Coordinator.
