He has has received almost continuous european funding (2003-2021) through several European consortiums (OBEAGE, DIABESITY, REPROBESITY, NEUROFAST, TRANS-INT, NUTRIAGE). He has had been invited speaker at the major international congress of Endocrinology, including the Opening Plenary Lecture of the Europena Congress of Endocrinology (2015) and the European Congress of Obesity (2021). He was the recipient of several awards including being the first European to receive the HypoCCS award (in 1993)for outstanding contributions in Neuroendocrinology of scientist younger than 45) and more recently (2014) the Geoffrey Harris of the European Society of Endocrinology for Life-time achievements.
