I am professor in physics of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile, I am an engineer trained as a scientist in physics and materials science, currently working in a physics department. I am an enthusiast of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work, as demonstrated by my unconventional path into scientific research. I lead the group of Theoretical Chemical Physics at the University of Chile, where we focus mainly on developing and applying theoretical computational methods to study the electronic structure and dynamics of atoms, molecules, clusters, and materials. Our group emphasizes collaboration and applies our methods to solve problems in physics and engineering. I supervise undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral associates, with training and outreach being a priority for me. I lecture undergraduate and graduate courses in physics, chemistry, and material sciences, and I currently chair my department. At the graduate level, I teach courses on Atomic and Molecular Physics and Atomistic Simulations in several scales. In addition to leading my research group, I am a member of outstanding multidisciplinary institutes of research, such as the Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA: http://cedenna.cl).
