Carla Azevedo

Curiosity and passion for science led me to pursue a PhD in Biomedicine – Stem cell Biology, in the field of Neuroscience. Considering the potential of translational medicine, I used human induced pluripotent stem cells- hiPSC and further developed, optimized, and applied several protocols to differentiate these cells into various brain cells. I specialized in developing cell-based therapies for neurodegenerative disorders and developed skills related to in vitro and in vivo studies. I am a curious, active and driven scientist with interest in stem cell biology and translational medicine. I enjoy to communicate science and I have been active in participating at meetings and courses abroad, sharing my research with fellow researchers. Associated with science communication, and besides research, I have interest in mentorship, public outreach and networking. I am currently working as a Research Scientist at Novo Nordisk, where together with a dedicated team, I am involved in developing cell products for several chronic diseases. Outside the laboratory, I am a photo, travel and outdoor enthusiast.
