Carey Weisberg

Carey Louise Weisberg received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in physics and English literature, the B.Sc. degree from Towson University, MD, in 2009, the M.Sc. degree in English from California State University, Long Beach, in 2014, and the M.Sc. degree in physics from California State University, Los Angeles, in 2019. Her research in physics M.Sc. thesis focused on the early evolution of solids in protoplanetary disks. She is currently an Optical Engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California Institute of Technology. She joined JPL in 2019 and is currently building a segmented telescope testbed, analyzing optics for the Roman Space Telescope Coronagraph Instrument, and performing analysis of mirror segment data for the Thirty Meter Telescope. In 2020, she worked as an Executive Assistant to the leadership team on the JPL COVID-19 VITAL Project that created a ventilator design and built a prototype that received emergency use authorization from FDA in just 37 days. Prior to becoming an engineer, she was an English and Science Teacher. She currently teaches middle and high school physics on some Saturdays for the Leslie and William McMorrow Neighborhood Academic Initiative at the University of Southern California.
