个人简介
In 2012 graduated in Chemical Engineering from the University of Antioquia (Colombia). He joined the Applied Physicochemical Processes during his bachelor's, a research group. He participated in several projects related to Advanced Oxidation Processes for water treatment applications using solar energy. His bachelor thesis titled: "Synthesis of photoactive TiO2, modified with N, Se and Si; from TiOSO4 by the sol-gel method and the solvothermal technique" was granted Honourable Mention by the Chemical Engineering Professional Board of Colombia.
In 2016, He obtained his M.Sc. in Process Engineering (MPE) from Offenburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and University of Warmia and Mazury (Poland) with emphasis on renewable energy and wastewater treatment. His Master's thesis was developed at Fraunhofer ISE focused on synthesizing mesoporous materials for dehumidification processes.
He worked as an operations engineer, managing the operation, monitoring, and optimization of an industrial wastewater treatment plant – WWTP for the PepsiCo Industry. There, he had the opportunity to start up and operate the first Zero Liquid Discharge – ZLD plant in Colombia.
Currently, he is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FSB), and at the University of Girona, Doctoral Programme in Water Science and Technology. He is working in the microwave-assisted synthesis of nanocomposites based on nitrogen-doped TiO2/graphene oxide. His goal is to develop a nanocomposite with lower bandgap energy and increased photocatalytic activity under visible radiation to remove organic micropollutants present in water. His project is one of the 14 individual research projects parts of the dual doctorate program within the scope of the H2020 MSCA-ITN-EJD (European Joint Doctorate) project NOWELTIES.
