C. Curceanu

Catalina Curceanu was born in Transilvania, Romania. She received the Ph.D. degree in physics from the Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering of Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania, in 2000, with a thesis dedicated to the study of exotic mesons within the OBELIX experiment at CERN, Meyrin, Switzerland. She is currently a Senior Researcher with the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati, Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN-LNF), Frascati, Italy, where she is leading a group of researchers performing advanced experiments in nuclear physics and quantum mechanics. She is the spokesperson of the SIDDHARTA-2 (spectroscopy of kaonic atoms) and VIP2 (experimental test on the Pauli Exclusion Principle violation by electrons) collaborations and the author of more than 400 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Curceanu received several awards and prizes, among which awards from the John Templeton Foundation and the Foundational Question Institute (FQXi) for projects on quantum mechanics, the 2017 Emmy Noether Prize from the European Physical Society, and the 2019 Betty Moore Foundation Fundamental Physics Innovation Award. In 2018, she was awarded the Order “Cultural Merit” in the rank of Knight by the President of Romania, for the significant contribution to exact sciences, who have climbed the ladder, through dedication and professionalism to the élite of the relevant international research.
