Brice Van Liefferinge

Kenichi Matsuoka received the B.E. degree in physics and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in earth environmental sciences from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, in 1995, 1997, and 2002, respectively. He worked with the Department of Earth and Space Sciences, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA, from 2002 to 2010, as a Postdoctoral Fellow and then as a Research Assistant Professor. In 2010, he moved to the Norwegian Polar Institute, Tromsø, Norway, where he has been leading Antarctic glaciology research as a Senior Research Scientist. He has used airborne and ground-based ice-penetrating radar as the primary tool to elucidate processes that control glacial evolution, decipher glacial history, and assess the ongoing and future behavior of polar regions.
