My current focus is on the development of invasive mosquito surveillance (Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus) through regions that are vulnerable to invasion. Currently I manage two projects in south-east Queensland, Rapid Surveillance for Vector Presence or RSVP (a partnership between state and local health authorities) and Zika Mozzie Seeker or ZMS (a partnership between citizen scientists and Metro South Health), to implement presence-absence monitoring by linking ovitrap collections with novel PCR diagnostics. RSVP was published in PloS Neglected Disease, Mar 2017 ZMS is featured as a case study in the 2018 Annual Report from the Observatory for Public Sector Innovation (OPSI) released in Feb 2019. I hope to publish ZMS within the next 12 months.
