I am an epidemiologist of Spanish/Mexican nationality, MD, MPH, PHD, originally from an indigenous Zapotec community, Oaxaca Mexico. Trained as a medical doctor and clinical laboratorian. Since 2006 (while studying medicine) I have worked as a volunteer and then as a researcher, first in Mexico and after 2013 in Spain. I have worked in several areas, from social epidemiology, health policy evaluation, health determinants, health inequalities and urban health, exploring feminist approaches to public health work to pharmacoepidemiology. I have also worked on these issues by getting involved (designing content and communication strategies) as a social activist through social projects such as film shows and through the Latin American writers' collective. For me, taking science beyond the desk is fundamental. I have been voted and elected (2020-2024) as a young representative on the board of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology and representative in the International Network of Epidemiology in Politics. Since 2015 and after finishing my master's degree, I have published scientific articles (indexed in PubMed) with more than 1000 readings in ResearchGate. I have also had multiple interventions in scientific congresses, workshops and I have published several book chapters and I have been editor of a book in medical sciences in Latin America that is used as a reference in several medical schools in Latin America.
