My academic career started at Ural State University, Russia, where I received a bachelor’s degree in theoretical physics. I persuaded Prof Dr Staislav Alexeyev (Sternberg Astronomical Institute, Moscow State University) to become my scientific supervisor and created my bachelor’s thesis under his supervision.
I received a master’s degree in theoretical physics from the State University “Dubna”, Russian. The university collaborates with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, so I enjoy an opportunity to learn from active scientists employed in the institute. I received courses in various aspects of quantum field theory, including supersymmetry. This experience gave me a ground to expand my research of modified gravity and employ quantum field theory methodology.
I received a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Sussex, the United Kingdom, under the supervision of Prof Dr Xavier Calmet. We collaborated during my master’s degree, which persuaded Prof Dr Calmet to propose me a PhD position at the University of Sussex. I finished the PhD programme in about two years and defended a thesis based on four papers. During this time, I started to specialise in quantum gravity and learned how to use its methodology for other modified gravity models.
My experience during the PhD allowed me to receive a position at Bogolubov Laboratory for Theoretical Physics, Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. I continued to study quantum effects in modified gravity theories. I discovered that certain operators are universally generated in scalar-tensor gravity at the one-loop level. Their magnitude is constrained by data on the gravitational wave speed and Newton’s constant time variation. Developing quantum gravity, I discovered a framework to efficiently calculate Feynman’s rules for gravity for a wide array of models. I implement this framework in the package FeynGrav, which provides a practical tool to operate with quantum gravity scattering amplitudes.
In 2020, I received a one-year research grant from the Foundation for the Advancement of Theoretical Physics and Mathematics “BASIS”, supporting my research. Based on my performance, the funding was extended for two additional years. In 2021 my colleagues and I applied for a research grant issued by the Russian Science Foundation and received it at the beginning of 2022. It was devoted to a study of certain aspects of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays in non-canonical theories of gravity. Lastly, in 2020 I received a docent position at the State University “Dubna” and enjoyed an opportunity to give lectures in “Quantum Mechanics” and “Nonlinear Equations of Physics” to undergraduate students.
At the beginning of 2022, I received a postdoc position at the Institute for Basic Science, Korea, and was employed at the beginning of 2023. I work with Dr Park Miok on classical and quantum features of hairy black holes within modified gravity. We studied the properties of such black holes in global and gauge symmetry models and evaluated the leading order quantum corrections.
