Career Trajectory
Bio
Björn Hein received the Diploma degree in electrical engineering with a focus on control theory from the University of Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1998, and the Ph.D. degree in automatic collision-free path planning from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Karlsruhe, in 2003.
Since 2002, he has been the Team Leader of the Intelligent Industrial Robots (IIROB) Research Group, Intelligent Process Automation and Robotics Laboratory (IPR), KIT. In May 2010, he finished his post-doctoral lecture qualification in computer science with stress on human–robot interaction. From 2012 to 2018, he was a holder of the Shared-Professorship at KIT with the topic of interaction technologies for robotic systems. Since October 2018, he has been a Full Professor of intelligent production and cloud robotics with the Karlsruhe University of Applied Science (HKA), Karlsruhe.
Dr. Hein is a member of the AutomationML-Standardization Consortium and the Vice-Chair of the Technical Committee on Robotics (T4.3) of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC).
