I am an academic, policy analyst and development practitioner based in Uganda. Currently, I work as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, Makerere University Kampala. I am also a Research Fellow at the Global Development Institute (GDI) of the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. I hold a PhD in Development Policy and Management from the University of Manchester, UK; Master of Arts in International Development, Development Management from the University of Manchester, UK; and Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda. My research focuses on developmental social work issues more broadly and specifically on state-civil society engagement, politics of public service delivery, social protection, and performance of public sector agencies. As a practitioner, I have engaged in initiatives that foster collaborations between the public sector, civil society, and the academia in a bid to promote evidence-based programming. My notable research assignments include: the evaluation of Government of Uganda Youth Livelihood Programme under the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie); various Political Economy analyses for international agencies such as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Department for International Development (DFID), and affiliates of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) among others. Methodologically, I proficiently employ mixed methods research approaches with expertise in qualitative software and data management packages such as Nvivo and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA).
