Auguste Fernandes

Auguste Fernandes graduated in Inorganic Chemistry (Materials Science) from Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France) in 1999. After completing his PhD degree at CEMES Laboratory in 2002 (Toulouse, France), He joined F. Ribeiro’s group at Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisboa) as a post-doctoral fellow, in the area of microporous aluminophosphates synthesis. Between 2008 and 2012, He got a researcher position in the same group, under the “programa Ciência 2007”. From 2013 and 2018, he has got a post-doctoral fellowship position in the CATHPRO group, belonging to CQE Research Unit (IST, Lisbon). During this period, He dealt with the design of new inorganic microporous and hierarchical materials and their characterization, essentially silica-based materials (zeolites, AlPOs and SAPOs, ordered mesoporous silicas OMS, etc.). Since 2018 Auguste Fernandes has got a research position under DL/57 law, in the same Research unit. His main scientific interests concern the use of new and “greener” synthesis approaches (including microwave-assisted synthesis) and characterization (structure, surface properties, catalytic behaviour) of these materials by the use of a wide range of techniques, like powder X-Ray Diffraction, advanced in-situ and Operando spectroscopic methods (Infrared and UV-Vis), thermal analyses and gases sorption method and applications in Energy and Environmental Catalysis. He is currently (co)author of 91 papers and has got an H-Index of 28.
