Aristófanes Corréa Silva received the B.S. degree in computer science and the master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA), in 1995 and 1997, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in informatics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), in 2004. Since 2008, he has been a Founding Member and the Leader of the Applied Computing Group, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is currently a Full Professor with UFMA, working in research and teaching computer science, with a focus on the following subjects: image processing, computational vision, and applied artificial intelligence. His awards and honors include the 2010 and 2012 First Place FAPEMA Award in the Senior Research Category.
