During the past four decades, Dr. Bleyer was awarded research grants totaling more than $ 87 million as a principal investigator from the National Institutes of Health, the American Cancer Society, University of Texas and the Leukemia Society of America. He is an author on more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, 77 book chapters, and 10 books, and the senior editor of the Cancer in Adolescents and Young Adults book. His current personal clinical research is dedicated to adolescents and young adult (AYA) oncology and to social science issues (suicide, firearm deaths, substance abuse) in young Americans.
